OUR STORY

THE HUM is the brainchild of Gen Cleary, whose decades-long career in live music at the highest level has been
shaped by a deep exploration of how humans connect with sound, not only through hearing, but through the
entire body, and how sound moves both through physical space and through us.
"I started questioning how we treat sound during one of the most personal and challenging periods of my life," says Cleary. "On a professional level, I was working on a large-scale production inside a major Las
Vegas nightclub when I realized that everything built around the music was getting in the way of it. The nonstop visuals, constant stimulation, and relentless pace were overwhelming the body instead of
supporting presence, connection, or emotional release. It felt like we were being disrespectful to both the music and the audience. I did not know what to do about it at the time, but it shook me deeply — to the
point where I knew I would never be able to produce shows the same way again."
"Around the same time, I was also going through a lot personally and had no idea how to get out of my situation. I was not someone who knew how to stop, or even how to sit in silence, meditate, or do
anything that might help me reconnect with myself. I was then invited into ancestral ceremonies where
music, rhythm, and vibration were intentionally experienced through the body. Sound moved beyond
hearing alone to create a deep reset of the mind, body, and soul. That experience transformed me
forever. Even though I began my career as a professional dancer and sound had always been my driving
force, it was only then that I truly understood how powerful sound could be."
THE HUM was born from the idea that our relationship with music has become almost entirely ear-based,
despite the body itself being a powerful receptor. By allowing sound to move through muscle, tissue, and the
nervous system rather than overwhelming the ears, the experience works faster and more deeply on the body as
a whole. Designed to exist in the most chaotic environments, THE HUM is intentionally affordable, accessible,
and available to people who may never have the time or resources to seek out traditional wellness spaces. At its
core, THE HUM uses sound as a simple, effective tool to help people reconnect with themselves, release
anxiety, and support mental health in a way that is genuinely inclusive.
